BIG update

During quarantine, I have built a new habit of beginning my morning with prayer and Scripture. I am following the example of the early church fathers, who saw the Psalms as the inspired prayer and worship book for feeding the soul! It has been an amazing blessing getting to pray a Psalm each morning and worship the Lord. I am amazed at how much my day has changed since I started this practice.

On Thursday this past week, I was praying over my daily Psalm, seeking the wisdom of the Lord in making a final decision on the possibility of leasing a new facility for us to gather in. The Psalm of the day was Psalm 20, I encourage you to go read the whole Psalm today. The message that will stick with me as we move forward is Psalm 20:4-5 which says: “May He give you what your heart desires and fulfill your whole purpose. Let us shout for joy at your victory and life the banner in the name of our God. May the Lord fulfill all your requests.” This prayer is one that David lifts up as He worships the Lord for His Graceful provision. David reminds us that God looks after His Messiah the King, and His people.

The timing of this Psalm could not have been more perfect. I believe that the Lord will bless His people if we remain faithful to His Word, if we lift banners in His name, and if we trust in His provision! We as an eldership have prayed and fasted every Sunday for a few months now. We have labored over this decision, and this Psalm gave me the final bit of confidence I needed to say, let’s do this!

As you may have heard today, we came to a decision on our future meeting location as a church.

We have officially signed the lease for the facility off the 303 and Greenway, what used to be part of Westside Total Fitness. We are leasing the four suites West of the main building, just a bit over 5400 square feet! This is an amazing opportunity and I am so excited to get to work on making this facility our new home.

We will be beginning work on September 1st and we need your help! We will need help tearing down walls, putting up new ones, building a stage, and several other projects! We need you to come out and join us as we build our future church location. If you are willing to come help, please sign up at this link. We will need help for several weeks. I will give you more details as we get a bit closer.

We will also have need for financial support as we go forward, both in monthly offerings and in helping us get on our feet. This is an opportunity to invest in your church, as so many of you already do and have been for years! I will let you know of ways you can help here as the weeks go on.

For now, I am asking you to pray! I am asking that you join us in praying for the future of Surprise Christian Church. I believe God has many blessings in store for us. Now is the time to put in the hard work of building this ministry. Now is the time to establish our presence in the community and make a difference for the Gospel of Christ. I hope you will join us in this mission to equip and build up disciples who relationally transform the world for Christ.

May God bless His church all over the world in these uncertain times!

Sincerely,

Drew Carroll
