Friday Update - Sep 2nd
Here is a look at everything going on at Surprise Christian Church!
Announcements
Grief Share - Starting September 12th at 6:30
If you or a loved one are struggling through grief, this is an amazing ministry that I pray you will consider joining. Experiencing grief is a long and difficult process. It can be especially difficult when you feel isolated and alone. Grief Share is an amazing opportunity to form a community of people who have also experienced or are experiencing grief. If you would like to get more information you can find it on our website here https://surprise.church/GriefShare.
Story of God - Starting September 13th at 7:00 pm
Story of God is an amazing opportunity to look at the overarching narrative of Scripture. It gives a chance to see how our story meets God's story. This a unique opportunity where we learn more through dialogue with one another than through one person teaching. Story of God takes place over 10 weeks and covers the whole biblical narrative, going from creation through restoration. Each week, there is a short story that is engaging and impactful. These stories serve to help us learn a little bit more about who God is and what He has done for us. These stories are followed by an open conversation, where we are challenged and moved to participate in the story of God. You can sign up and find more information here https://surprise.church/page/581?EventOccurrenceId=99.
Youth Takeover - September 18th
Youth Takeover is an annual event where the students of our church "take over" the main service for the weekend. They will be running the normal ministry operations of the church like: setting up communion, greeting at the door, the announcements, the communion thought, the Psalm before service, and serving on the worship team. Deacon Bryan Brown (little fish) will be preaching that Sunday. It is an exciting opportunity to allow the students in our church to experience a taste of church ministry. I hope you come out to support them! If you have students who would like to participate, contact Bryan Brown at Bryan.brown@surprise.church.
End of Summer Party -September 18th
In addition to Youth Takeover, we will also be having our End of Summer Party after service (starting at 12:30) at the building. We decided to do this party in replacement of the unfortunately canceled pool party. At this event, we will be playing some games (pitting families against one another) in competition for a grand prize (including an absurdly sized trophy), there will be a photo booth, there will be barbecue courtesy of Arizona Blackwood Barbecue, and we will be administering baptisms! We want this to be a community building event, as our church is growing fast! We want to get to know one another and continue to build that culture of relational transformation. I hope you will join us! You can sign up to help set up/teardown, cook a side, or make a desert at church on Sunday.
Again, this will be at the building at 12:30 following services on the 18th!
P.S.
We will be having our vote for our next sermon series at this event. Reminder, we are picking between Esther, Daniel, and Acts. We will also have some survey questions regarding a few possible new ministries or service options in the future.

It also means, cooler weather! Praise Jesus for that. I hope you join us as we continue to grow as a church family.
